Discussion Intel 10th Gen Desktop CPU's

""They’ve also abandoned their ridiculous 95W TDP claim and replaced it with a more realistic 125W TDP on the overclockable models. ""

No they have not. Intel definition for TDP is the same , the intel TDP just means nothing when you combine it with motherboards that completely disregard intel's power package specification , I speculate that i9 k CPU would be completely difficult to cool enough to reach stock boost frequencies and not throttle

Yeah i saw that. It also appears it will still be 14nm as well. It also interesting to see that the i7 10700K is really a i9-9900K. shoving 2 more cores in that i9 package i think i will wait for someone to review it on temps before i would buy it. Gotta love the 5.3GHz though, if you it can actually hit it and not melt lol.

Is PCIE gen 4 really that useful yet? I am not so sure. We don't have graphics cards able to take advantage of it yet although some NVME SSDs can.
Sure is a bummer though from upgradability and ever the more reason to buy Ryzen. Looks like Intel is slipping behind in more than one area making my 2015 dated username look rather sloppy.

I also imagine the HT is the biggest upgrade and something going for in Intel's favor here.

That's great for people who don't need 10c/20t ,another few % max clocks on a 6c or 6c/12t for top performance in gaming and serial execution is great news.

People who need lots of cores usually don't need high clocks as well, forums blow these thing way out of proportions, look at it as a big.little CPU, you get the highest clocks possible on a few cores and still have the rest of the CPU free for if you need any multitasking or multicore stuff to happen at the same time.

Only click bait review sites run unrealistically heavy workloads on full overclock on all cores.

Unless intel has gone bonkers since when I tested chips there. The chips will run as they said. One thing they do better is thermals. And 14+++ is now binning great. So have to assume follow on will be better.
