Both techpowerup and tom's hardware have the 12700k around 20c lower than the 7700x. Do you accept their numbers or are they lying?
These are just the numbers they showed. You don't know the temperature on the memory controller in 12700 in your example, and in the same test it can be 99°C due to too much pressure of the default ILM and curved IHS. Therefore, almost everyone who overclocked gen 12-14 was forced to install a custom ILM. Bye motherboard warranty.

Offtop mode off:

It would be nice if these 18A processes started. But there is too much uncertainty and failure at the moment. They should show 20A Arrow Lake with PowerVia and GAAFET... We still don't know if it will be a monolithic crystal or a chiplet design.

Yes, these are the numbers they showed. Are they lying? Are you saying tom's hardware is lying on their review?

No, the CPU package temperature is the highest temperature recorded on the entire CPU. So the memory controller is included.

selective picking of numbers lets try the actual processor the 12700 was against which was the 5000 series, the 7000 is competing with the 13th and 14th gen.
Competition is great cheating is not and lying about a known issue is cheating

You said there is an IHS problem on the 12th gen, I showed you the temperatures from tom's hardware and TPU which showed the exact opposite. Just admit you were wrong and move on man, no reason to keep coming back to it.

ok numpty keep cashing the paycheck from intel, meanwhile the rest of us realists will read this article from surprise surprise toms hardware imagine that!

and please take your intel sponsered opinions elsewhere

Oh BTW your predictions are so far out now reviews are live lol intels toast i give gelsinger 6 months if that before the vultures come calling

And im quoting, from the article you just linked

This can cause higher chip temperatures (impact varies, typically around 5C)

Oh my god, 5c difference? So if you put a contact frame on a 12700k it will be 25c cooler than the 7700x instead of 20c? That's horrible...

And if you put it on a 14700k you’ve got a time bomb regardless.

Might just be the dumbest comment that someone thought was clever.
It's is because the intel cpu naming calls to be turned into ironic/sarcastic funny names when th CPUs fail.

There will be literally competitions who can come up with the funniest name. And they will be remembered by that name forever.
