prescott will come with 166 first, and wont come tomorrow, but probably soon. barton is allready here, and when prescott 200 fsb is here, clawhammer will be too :)

from my experience, effective fsb doesn't do such big difference :) but you are right about that.

(my 2400+ goes past 200fsb today, try to get a p4 to that :) )

Good Point.

Benchmarks aren't everything when choosing a platform.

The only thing i know...

is that i know nothing at all.

My comp uses an athlon and it's up sometimes for weeks without being shut off. During summer time it gets hot and I'm too cheap to pay for ac. During winter I have a vent blowing hot air into my intake fans. So year round it's got bad conditions, and it runs extremely stable- no probs what so ever.

I shoulda mentioned that runnign Seti is not the only thing the system does..that 4.4 Hrs is a number i pulled from the last 3 times i looked at how logn it took....usually its running a 3D Screen Saver 24/7 playign MP3's in winamp and United Devices cure for cancer aswell as Seti@Home......and i got 256MB of ram.....

As for the specific number u just gave me...how can i find out all that information about myself???

As for a 2GHz P4 (such as yours) crunching more than an AXP 2000+....it cant be....unless when urs is crunchign seti thats what its soley doing...It's WELL known that Seti LOVES the FPU of the Athlon a LOT more than ne other x86 chip....ur overall system setup is most likely better than mine...as to what makes Seti faster? i coulda sworn it was all CPU CLock/FPU and Ram.....

i can't say the same however. I always had problems during 90+ degree weather. Always few lock-ups and stuff.

Infact my computer fried (quite literally, it was smoking) during the summer. Unrelated to the CPU! This was poor quailty with gigabyte motherboards. The one RAM slot was loose from the motherboard. I'm not joking at all. The thing was a POS. First the fan died so i had to buy a new fan and then the one ram slot came undone. Probobly because of the heat.

Now that nforce2 is out maybe it'll be different in the summer. But i know VIA sucks and i will never buy another gigabyte board.

ya well, i don't know, the numbers speak for themselves. Seti doesn't even care about RAM so it isn't that.

Perhaps you have too much running in the background.

If u go to Seti Spy's website u'll see it does indeed care about ram...more specifically, what type of Ram....DDR< DC DDR..Dual DDR, RDRAM etc.....

hmmm i always thought it didn't. I remember reading a post on anandtech forum about RAM and someone replied about how it doesn't matter what kind of ram you use.

Even still you are using dual channel ddr right? which is must faster then my ddr which is only operating at pc2100 even though i have pc2700. And i don't see how the amount of RAM you have makes any difference because it is a small chunk of data. but *shrugs*

MOO3 is out though! and simcity 4 looks fun... lol
