Intel 3930k shortage?

does anyone know why there is such a small supply of intel core 3930k's?

I ordered one from a site the other night, unfortunately they couldn't fill the order either. From what 2 sites have told me, now we are looking at the week of the the 25th 🙁

It keeps getting pushed back further and further...disappointing to say the least.

But the 3930k/3960x won't be touched in performance by the IB processors, although IB might be better bang for the buck, especially for gamers.

They are talking about IB-E being supported by current LGA 2011 x79 chipset. Therefore, when IB-E finally comes out (in what, a year+ from now?) then people can just upgrade the processor, rather than the motherboard as well.

well i just ordered my 3930k from amazon and they expect it to ship in 1-2 months.... so hopefully i get it way b4 that but yea...

My builder, ibuypower, notes they expect a shipment of 3930k on or before 2/13/12.

I hope this date holds true. Waiting and waiting with no end-date in sight really sucks.

Yesterday afternoon I did get an auto email from BUY.COM that the 3930K was in stock. 45 minutes later when I read the email, they were all sold out.

I believe that is what is happening at this point. There are too many on backorder. I am sure some orders are being filled at this point, there just isn't sufficent stock at this point to fill all existing orders. So, the people who have ordered are starting to receive theirs and we are waiting. I outsmarted myself and didn't go ahead and order a month ago... 🙁

I have all the parts for my computer except for the CPU. Don't know if I'll wait for the 3930 or downgrade and get the new chip on Feb. 13th when it comes out. Can always upgrade to the Ivy Bridge-E when they come out 4th Quarter this year.

I Am thinking the same thing...I have the Maximus board in the closet also for an 1155 build. Decisions, decisions...

Wow. I checked Canada Computers this morning (www.canadacomputers.com), and saw that they had one available in my city. I called them up right away, confirmed they had it, and I put it on reserve. Just went over my lunch hour and picked it up! So stoked. I ended up buying:
