Intel 530 - 180GB SSD - how do I know if it's aged too much?

I am getting rid of my 2yrs old laptop that has an Intel 530 - 180GB SSD, at the same time, I am re-building my PC which is using and older OCZ Vertex 2, 120GB SSD as OS drive. I'd like to switch them before selling my laptop, so my new OS drive would have more storage, better performance, plus possibly more reliable drive (being Intel)?

1. How do I check to see how much life is left on the Intel SSD? I have Intel SSD toolbox. The toolbox says "estimate life remaining 100%"?
2. Is it worth the hassle to switch these?
3. Is there any SSD today that's significantly better and should I shell out extra money for that?

Thanks

You didn't list the rest of your hardware, so this may not be a problem, however, if you are building an...
try this http://ssd-life.com/ probably will answer question 1.
question 2 . depends on you. well you really need to test the drives first to see if its more reliable.,
question 3. for performance probably there are drive out there. as for reliability almost all ssd are the same.

You didn't list the rest of your hardware, so this may not be a problem, however, if you are building an Intel Haswell system, please note that the OCZ Vertex 2 SSDs are NOT compatible with Intel Haswell chipsets. I discovered this the hard way.

Good luck with your new build!

You're welcome.

I feel that the Intel Core i5 is superior to the AMD 8350. Just my opinion from reading Tom's almost every day for the past year. AMDs fx CPUs are on a sinking ship. Haswell on the other hand, offers a good upgrade path to New Haswell Refresh, and to Broadwell - all on the same mobo.

I would sell the Vertex 2 SSD and get a newer, better quality, compatible SSD. Then build my system on Intel 9 series board with an i5 CPU.

I would have to be really desperate to choose an AMD CPU and MOBO. Again, my personal opinion.
