Question Need Reliable RAM Dealer (US)

Greetings,

I need to buy an 8GB Crucial, DDR4-3200 SODIMM. P/N CT8G4SFRA32A . Crucial no longer sells direct to the public. Amazon has one seller in Germany with stock of 1. Newegg is outrageous in their pricing. B&H Photo Video lists it as discontinued. Micron does not ship, store pickup only and they have no stores in Michigan.

Can anyone recommend a reliable place to purchase RAM?

Many thanks!
Lyman

What is the make, model and SKU to your laptop? I'm assuming that the part number mentioned above is the exact part you're working with at the time of writing and you're in need of an identical stick of ram to perform a ram upgrade from 8GB to 16GB.

Given how all your doors are closed in order to source that particular part, why not go for another ram brand/kit?

Thank you for responding. You hit the nail on the head. I had a two 8gb of the Crucial CT8G4SFRA32A.M8FJ DIMMS for a total of 16GB. One went South. The system is an HP Laptop 14-fq0xxx. SKU 5Z7Y9UA#ABA. I was surprised that the single 8GB it came with was Crucial and not labeled HP. But then again, HP is not in the memory manufacturing business.

"Given how all your doors are closed in order to source that particular part, why not go for another ram brand/kit?"

I was a Network Administrator for 43 years (Lockheed, Raytheon, Qualcomm) and you do not want to mix different brands of Memory; it can get problematic. In other words, I want to keep the good Crucial I have and replace it with the one that failed.

I did locate one on eBay a few minutes ago, New, so I made an offer on it. We'll see what happens...

RE the computer:

Thank you!

While your waiting run the crucial scanner on the pc and see what it shows.

Perhaps you're out of the loop, DDR4's production is dwindling in favor of DDR5;

hence why availability and prices have gone up(supply demand curve). I'm one of the advocates around the forums, here, advising users to not mix and match ram sticks. When I stated different brand/kit, I meant looking at another ram kit from another brand, not a mismatched loadout of ram sticks.

You should have access to Adata, TeamGroup, Crucial(other kits), G.Skill, Corsair and Klevv.

Greetings All,

Can Crucial Memory CT8G4SFRA32A.M8FJ and CT8G4SFRA32A.C8FE coexist together? The former I have had, the latter went South on me. Unfortunately, I did not check the last four alphanumerics on my order of CT8G4SFRA32A.C8FE.

I have called Crucial Support (offshore) and I cannot understand their dialect. I just can't.

Any input greatly appreciated!

Why not replace both? Seems you have a far better chance of success that way.
Agreed....and thanks! Let me ask you this if I may: Can Crucial CT8G4SFRA32A.M8FJ and CT8G4SFRA32A.C8FE coexist together?

Many thanks,

This sort of niche information is probably not known by many.

You could buy it and return it if it doesn't work (check return policy beforehand). If you go this route, be sure to check speeds and timings beforehand and then again with both sticks working together to make sure the RAM isn't downclocking or loosening timings to remain compatible.

As already mentioned, the best option is to bite the bullet and just buy a 2x8GB kit for guaranteed compatibility.
