Make one of those "P" processors with a "K" attached and I am sold. Unlocked processor without the graphical portion (which I'll never use) for a cheaper price? Yes please.

Should be interesting to see how much better the i5-2550k is compared to the i5-2500k.

Sold as cheap dedicated servers mostly.

Who cares about the .1 Ghz on the i-2550K. What I hop it represents is an aggressive binning filter that guarantees I'll have a CPU with more headroom to overclock.

The 2550K doesn't have functional graphics.

Barracuda Networks. They use crappy processors like this to limit the ability of their low end boxes.

According to this: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5475/intel-releases-seven-sandy-bridge-cpus "You may be wondering what the P at the end of two Core i5 SKUs stands for. Intel has not updated their product database yet so we aren't 100% sure, but VR-Zone is reporting that it implies a GPU-less model. VR-Zone is also stating that the i5-2550K is GPU-less as well, which would be a step down from the i5-2500K that features Intel HD 3000 graphics." It may be the case that the 2550K doesn't have functional graphics.

Bitcoin miners. They require no CPU power. I run 3 systems with AMD Sempron single core 2.6 ghz, downclocked to 1.8.

What is it with manufactures and constantly changing their naming schemes?

On another note, I wonder if you can unlock the graphic core through the motherboard bios just like how it is possible to unlock the extra cores on AMD X2 and X3 cpus

You do realize that this is all AMD's fault?

If they had come out with a real ass kicker in the Fall, Intel would have had to gear up and compete. Instead all they have to do now is release all sorts of variations to clear out impaired production. :(

[citation][nom]blandge[/nom]No need for the hostility, my statement was not based on this article. Go here:http://www.anandtech.com/show/5475 [...] ridge-cpus[/citation]

That is very interesting... No functional on die GPU on the 2550K... No Quick Sync... No need for a z68 Mobo.

I wonder if the 2550K is binned higher or is just a 2500K/2600K with a GPU that got broke in the fabrication process
