Intel naming convention makes less sense with every new generation of products. They could have used the same prefix for the 3 chips, either M3, i5 or i7, since core/thread/L3 cache are the same.

still waiting for cannon lake and 10 nm since 5 years;.. tired of waiting, I bought a 8700k and I'm grealty surprised.... it works very good.
but hey Intel, come on, the 10nm is not so difficult.. all other founders have it...
