No offense, but that is the dumbest thing ive heard in quite some time. AMD is their competition, if they buy them up, theres no more competition, and intel is the only cpu manufacturer, AKA, MONOPOLY. Then the can charge whatever they want for anything.

My dad did I think... He was as perplexed as I was... Why? Their AVS is HORRIBLE. It finds nothing. It fixes NOTHING. MSE>AVAST>>>Kapersky=NOD32>>Norton>>>McAffee...

I repair computers for a living... and unless Intel knows something about mcafee that i don't, this is a HUGE mistake. I have NEVER seen a pc with mcafee that wasn't loaded with viruses. ever.

More like the AMD products crash and Intel products go faster. Intel does have some questionable business ethics.

I recommend you take an economics class before commenting on a company's position when they are a monopoly. Does you Power Company charge you $10/Kwh? Does the USPS charge you $5 for a stamp just because? If they sold CPUs for $10,000, no one would buy them. If no one buys them, they don't make money. So they lower prices until the supply and demand meet in a happy place called the Equilibrium.

That's what it sounds like to me. I don't know why else a hardware company would purchase an AV company. I can see it now - daily microcode updates for your CPU, then that one slips by quality control again and turns your machine in to a boat anchor.

I'm in the same position, and I know exactly what you mean. The last PC I worked on that had McAfee had three trojans and a worm that Malwarebytes found within 20 min. The sad truth is most people blindly trust Norton and McAfee, where's alternative free products can provide much better service.

Maybe Intel has so much money they decided to do the right thing, and put the company down. Maybe then the government could learn from Intel, terrible companies DESERVE to fail, there's a reason they don't make money lol.

You forgot AVira which ranks about with MSE except so far only MSE has found some pretty nasty vruses that block Windows Update or kill the OS that the others haven't found yet.

As for Intel, if anything they will make it better. Intel also bought HavoK Physics and that ahs yet to perform worse and is still the top Physics engine.

So Intel lays out their plans in software however I think we're all still at a loss to understand their reasoning (if any) as to why this is a good fit. I can't even draw comparisons to the two companies. So many better companies out there with better products. The only positive about McAfee is they somehow keep 6000 people employed. Quite a feat considering their reputation among home users. And 2 Billion coming in? ? Must be the corporate environment fueling that. Baffling. I know I'm not the only one here that had to fix a computer after McAfee hosed the OS trying to remove some innocuous virus.

I have used Mcafee for the past 8 years and have and am still virus free, i would think Intel knows more then one man making one comment...

Around here there are laws stopping such hydro companies to continiously abuse their monopoly. I REALLY don't see that happening to Intel until enough time has passed and the harm has already been done. And I am sure he didn't mean a mere quad core at 3ghz for 10k, think more along the lines of 10% to 35% price boosts. Everyone knows no one will buy cpu's for 10k or simple stamps for $5. I recommend you use a little more common sense when countering arguments.-No Offense.
