[citation][nom]falchard[/nom]Ha, he is so right. That opinion mostly comes out of Silicon Valley where there are so many Libertarians who understand what economy means. Libertarians thrive in tech because its so new the politicians have not gotten around to ruining it.it.[/citation]

Uh, technology has been around since humans first created fire.

[citation][nom]heinz81[/nom]Not just CA. The USA lives on borrowed money. Even the bail-outs were paid with borrowed money. Our goverment is like a kid with a titanium card and only an allowance (see massive trade deficit and service sector jobs). No real income. What does the USA export to China? Raw materials like scrap metal or machine like Catipillar. The Chinese import for capital. We import to consume.[/citation]

Not just the USA. Every industrialized Western nation has fallen into a rut. I am a believer in capitalist society but I am beginning to have my doubts. The current system only serves to strengthen the rich and powerful, not the middle and lower class.

Thanks for point out a major flaw in our politics. Most of these arguments are "Rep is better" or "Dem is better" Wake up. they BOTH have NOT figured out the problems. Yes there are horrible things the gov pays for. But we have dug ourselves into this. Why are there so many gov take-home cars? Why is it that the government paid 2 million to have a bridge power washed every night? Why is it that people "deserve" to be paid by the gov? Why is it that 1/3 of all jobs in america are in some part by the gov?

I work in a job that my coworkers will NOT work over 18 hours a week, because they will lose Food Stamps, housing allowance, free bus passes and several other perks. I work about 60 hours a week and in the end THEY make more money.
We live in a messed up place.

Socialism is not capitalism. Just like more extreme versions of socialism, only those politically connected prosper. Income tends to be most even in free-market capitalist societies.

[citation][nom]spasmolytic46[/nom]You're right, but with that kind of logic I sure hope you aren't anyone's CFO. Even if you stopped all discretionary spending it would take 12 years to pay off the debt. Considering 2012's military spending is over $700 billion, you'd make a decent enough dent after a few years.[/citation]
Felchard is dumb, 2013 budget proposes freezing defense spending at $672 billion level over next 10 years. And there's additional $203 billion for VA, Homeland Security and Army of Engineer civil works funding. If discretionary spending is killed then whole executive arm of government will be too. Though in essence mandatory spending is discretionary too, because though it's mandated by law those laws can be changed.

Capitalism is the best option for the middle class. Cronyism is not capitalism.
