Intel doesn't NEED to enable Haswell on a Haswell board :) 4790 already works on Z87, there's no reason to think otherwise for the upcoming unlocked version.

 
I'm just worried Intel will rocket the prices on this "new tech" and Z97's not only because they control the market for "enthusiasts" but just to give consumers more reason to buy older tech as well as Z87's.
 

For only ~3% extra performance, most people won't care either way.

Heck, many people don't really care about the ~20% gain going from 2600k to 4770k either. Even less those who OC.
