im planning to make an upgrade on my video editing rig.
its either i go for an Q3800 or an Q8400....and if i can flex my budget an Q9400
what for? : mainly video editing and maybe a little gaming. Not planning to play crysis or bf2.
just simple games like AC2,Sims3 or bioshock 2 on max settings.
my other specs are:
Nvidia GTS 250 1gb
3 GB or RAm
500GB HD
Asus P5kpl am/ps Mobo
21.5 LED LCD monitor
my concerns are: With an Quad core processor and this kind of video card there will be no bottle necking at all right? i mean GPU and CPU should work perfectly fine with each other with this kind of match up.
I read a few articles about games that dont really use Quad cores to be played at max settings, they said an core2duo OC'ed would do the job. Another concern of mine is, do i really need to Overclock when playing games? or when i work on my video editing? i really dont like to overclock since i dont have the rig to support it. So is it really necessary?
and finally, which among those processor are future proof? im trying to avoid replacing them. i currently have an core 2 duo e7400 right now and an 9500 GT which i only used for just a year, its a shame they will go to a waste with the upgrade im doing right now. but thats it okay since i will get better results right? in gaming ( a little maybe ) but more on the video editing side perhaps?
thanks a million guys.
