Intel Core i3-4005U (3M Cache, 1.7GHz), Good enough for web development?

Hi!

Do any of you guys have any experience with the i3-4005U ? I want to buy a inspiron (Ubuntu) laptop for web development (php - js - angular js, node), I mostly work with Linux.

I'm a bit confused about this procesor, the benchmarks look super week.. but in the other hand its a haswell procesor which are supose to be quite good for laptops, So I don't know.

I would go for the i5 but they all come with windows, I don't want to pay for the win license because I just won't use it anyway. Then there is the dell xps developer edition (ubuntu ultrabook) but at that price like I rather buy a macbook air.

if you're just using it for web development it should be fine especially running Ubuntu. Depends though if you will be compiling much or not since it does require more CPU than anything.

Yeah, I like lenovo's thinkpads but they all come with windows pre installed, I don't want the chore of putting ubuntu in it and also pay for a license I won't use.

The dell inspiron I'm talking about comes with ubuntu pre installed.

There are some vendors that sell barebone laptops without OS, just add the hardware that you want. You will still have to install your own OS though.

for your work i5 will be better because it also has the turbo boost.
and if u looking for a laptop then i will suggest you dell laptop 3546.
it comes with i5 4gen 8gb ram and the best part, it has ubuntu pre installed in it.
