Hi Im new too overclocking, but heard it can be complex but you get good results. Can someone please tell me if I can overclock this CPU?

My CPU:
Intel Core i5-8600K 3.6GHz (4.30GHz Turbo) Hex Core Coffee Lake Processor
If possible I would like to get it to 4.6Ghz

I don't know if my fan is good or not (pre-built):
Quiet Xigmatek TYR Cooler

8600K can be overclock if you have Z370 motherboard.

If you want to overclock, I suggest you type in your mobo/8600K on youtube. You may find an exact match or equivalent on how to setup overclock. I saw many on youtube that people show how to overclock on their setup.

I don't know what is your GPU. Unless your default 8600K is bottleneck your current GPU, then you want to overclock your CPU to max out GPU. If it is not, then overclock your 8600K will not gain any significant performance.

You should download MSI Afterburner or use windows task manager to monitor your CPU/GPU/RAM usage. If anyone of them runs at or consistently near 100%, then that one is bottleneck your system.

The cooler is not good but should allow light overclocking, just keep an eye on temperatures and try not to let them go over 80c. I’d also want to know what PSU you have, usually the weakest link in a pre-built system.

Ok so my GPU IS A GTX 1060
And what do you mean by light overclocking? If I take it up to 4.5 is that light?

By light overclocking I mean little or no voltage increase. If you keep the temperatures below the low 80’s under stress testing you are safe.
