I recently bought the intel core i7-7700K along with Asus ROG Strix Z270F motherboard and Corsair H100i v2 aio cooler. My cpu in now set to 4.8GHz and the vcore is 1.23 set in bios. Corsair Vengeance LPX 8x2GB memory frequency set to 3000MHz and the DRM voltage is 1.332 set in bios. But I'm a bit confused with the CPU TEMPERATURE as I'm new to water cooling.
In idle condition the H100i v2 water temperature show 34-35C (in quiet mode). But it goes to 40C after 15-20 minutes of gaming (gta v, bf1) and the fans start spinning really loud, then cool down a bit, and after some times same thing repeats. Though cpu temperature remains between 65-75C. But in IntelBurnTest cpu temperature remains around 90C even in performance mode of H100i v2. While converting or rendering HD video cpu temperature reaimns between 70-80. Also the high rpm of the radiator fans don't have any effect on cpu temperature. My case is CM Mastercase pro 5 with two masterfan pro air balance as intake and one air balance as exhaust.
Is this temperatures normal? Or is there anything wrong with the aio cooler?

Solution
Yeah that attributes to me having a newer version of the CLC that you have. It has a bigger radiator.

It also attributes to my much lower ambient temperature. You'd probably sit exactly the same as me at the same room temp with the same cooler.

I can achieve 4.8GHz with 1.279 voltage, but my prime95 temp goes to 90-95, gaming temp stays between 70-75, but idle never drop down below 40 :3

Yeah, so if gaming temps stays between 70-75 (in oc) it's not that bad, right?
I don't do other heavy load stuff, just photo editing in photoshop, lightroom and canon digital photo professional

I'll do that in near future, first I have to find and talk to some i7-7700k or H100i v2 users in my country...

yeah, we have exact same cooler, but 6th gen i7 runs cooler than 7th gen. I'm still not sure if there's wrong with my cooler, at this very exact moment my water temp is 33 and pc is running for 2hours. Point is my the minimum idle temp I saw is 39. So it might be my bad luck that I've got a bad chip that runs hotter! It would be extremely helpful if I could get a chance to test the cpu with another cooler...

Your cooler is doing what it's supposed to. Your ambient temperature is higher than the average benchmark online or other users.

Id honestly recommend just not overclocking, or reducing ambient temps.
If you feel ok with 70c while gaming with possible red-lining temps, just keep your PC where it's at.

What I mean is if something loads your chip down it'll exceed 80c which over stresses the chip and can reduce the lifespan of it.

Okay, so now in bios, I set the core clocks to AUTO, the vcore to OFFSET mode, and the offset value to -0.070. DRM Frequency to 3000MHz, and DRM Voltage to 1.3332.
In games like witcher 3 and battlefield 1, temp stays between 60-66C, occasionally hits 71-72C then immediately jumps back to 60C range. In prime95 BLEND Mode, temps stays between 70-75C but in Small FFTs (Maximum Heat, FPU Stress) Mode it jumps to 85C within seconds, then I closed prime95.

So how bad is that? I also forgot to ask in which mode I should run prime95...

okay, thank you so much

but in this version, with previous settings (core clock auto, core voltage offset -0.070, drm voltage 1.3332, drm frequency 3000)
in Blend Mode temp stays within 70C, and in In-Place large FFTs (Maximum heat, power consumption) temp stayed beteen 73-76C.
I'm thinking of reinstalling the cooler again with some Arctic MX-4 thermal paste...
