I have a PC with the following specs:
Motherboard: Intel DH61WW
CPU: Intel i3-2100

I want to buy an i5-3470 on eBay (for about 30$), which will be a nice upgrade. I know that this motherboard is LGA1155, and the i5-3470 is also LGA1155, but I'm not sure that the motherboard BIOS will support the newer generation i5-3470.
Intel stopped support for their motherboards so I can't find a way to tell if my BIOS has the latest update. The current version of my BIOS is BEH6110H.86A.0016.2011.0118.1128 with date 01/18/2011.

Will it support the i5-3470?

Thanks

Yes it will.Same socket, your mobo probably has the latest bios, but if you need a bios update that shouldnt be a problem since you have a i3,the i5 TDP is lower than the max TDP you mobo supports so that is good.I cant seem to find any problems with compatibility, but if it doesnt post it is probably cuz of the bios not being updated.

I just noticed that my current BIOS is from 2011. The i5-3470 is from 2012. This PC was used by non-techy guy and he never updated the BIOS. the current BIOS version 016 whereas the latest BIOS should be 120 as seen on the Intel website. However, I can't download any BIOS update for Intel anymore because they decided (WTF?!) to remove all motherboards downloads. I wonder if and where I can get the BIOS files now
