I've used a Toshiba P70-A0LX for 2 days and have been receiving the message which asked me to install Intel Display Driver version 9.17.10.3223 and 10.18.10.3308. I've done it again and again but the driver didn't install at all. Please tell me if there is anything I can do? Could there be anything wrong with my laptop?

Solution
If the laptop has good performance now, don't worry about it. Many laptops use custom parts so it's possible you are trying to install updates that aren't for your system.

If you do feel the need to update your system, go to the laptop manufacturer's website and download the drivers from there.

I can assure you there is nothing wrong with your laptop.
It is just a minor software glitch. You said that the "driver didn't install at all". Can you tell me exactly what message you are getting?
Also, download the driver from intel's site. Uninstall your present driver. Restart. Install the new driver. Restart.
See if it helps.

Many times you need to install the driver from your LAPTOP site or you have difficulty installing it.

I can't say that's for certain but I had this problem with all AMD and NVidia laptops I used. The Windows version may include code to only allow drivers the laptop has authenticated due to tie-ins to the laptops physical hardware (like keyboard shortcuts to toggle video output).

The message was just "Toshiba recommends installing this component which has been updated to support Windows 8.1". After I went though all the steps, I just received this message again as if I had not done anything at all. The computer hasn't told me if I did anything wrong. I have done it probably five times and the message has been so stubborn. It is still there. It just keeps urging me to do the installation

Just download the intel HD graphics driver from intel's site and install it manually. I am assuming that a toshiba program / driver updater utility kind of program is showing you the message? You can uninstall it safely (the utility program).
