Intel Extreme utility manager ( problem after uninstalling)

Hello

After i flashed my bios to the newest version , i was unable to open Intel extreme unility manage. So i uninstalled it. Now i receive The IOCBIOS service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the path specified. in the event manage after rebooting.

I have tried reinstalling it ( which fixes the error) but i still can not open the program and receive other errors in the event manager : Intel Extreme Tuning Utility 2.1.408.41. The application tried to modify a protected Windows registry key \CLSID\{0000002F-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\InprocServer32

ive tried and find any registry keys that might have been left behind but im still left with that error. I never had that error before , even after flashing the bios. Only after trying to uninstall the utility ( which stopped working after i flashed the bios) do i get that error.

What can i do?? Do i have to do a clean install of windows or is there anything i can do to fix this ?? Or is this hardware related ??

im not sure what specs u need but here are the ones i can think of at least :

GTX 560 ti
GA-PH67A-UD3-B3
cpu is an intel quad core i5
8GB ram

windows 7 64 ultimate

i flashed my ram because i had just installed a new hdd yesterday and i had the oldest version of bios ( f1) so i thought its best to have the newest one.

I used @bios utility from GA and everything seems to have run with flashing it. Except ofc with the intel extreme utility 🙁

Are you certain that the BIOS Flash you used was for your motherboard and BIOS? Oftentimes, a BIOS flash is performed and it isn't the right one. When it comes to flashes, I tell my end users, if it isn't broke don't fix it. Meaning if it doesn't need the flash, don't do it.

Have you tried reversing the flash or flashing it back to the original version?

yep im sure , i used @bios utility which i downloaded directly from the GA website for my motherboard. It automatically reads your motherboard , but i still checked on ms info before actually telling it to flash the mother board to make sure it had the correct motherboard. it did.

I have not tried to reverse the flash , i didnt realise i could do that. But still... this error only appeared after i un installed that intel extreme tuning utility.. not after i flashed the bios. i clearly remember checking for any event errors after i flashed the bios and none appeared.

AND this error dissapears once i reinstall the Intel Utility... but as i said , im still not able to open it and it gives me other errors in the event manager.

Have you considered using the EasyTune 6 software that Gigabyte has available HERE ?

There's also a version of Intel Extreme Tuning Utility on that same page.

Just curious....Are you truly trying to OC this computer? If so, that's fine. If you're not then there is really no need for these programs.

Im not trying to OC my pc at all... i downloaded the utility purely because i was downloading drivers after putting in a new HDD , and those were on my motherboard utility website. It was curiousity , more than anything rly.

Once i installed and opened it ( this was before flashing my bios) i looked at it , and the only thing i did was enable the quick boot option ( i think thats what it was called) ... thats all i did with it, nothing else.

So yeah i have happilly gotten rid of it , but now it seems to have caused this error . Which btw seems to happened only after booting my pc.

Why do you suggest easy tune 6 btw? Is there something in there that would help me get rid of this error ? Sorry if this is a stupid question , im not familiar with it.

Didn't know if you were trying to OC that's all.

Can you give me some more information in regards to the error that's coming up now? Try to be as specific as you can.

So just to reiterate The IOCBIOS service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the path specified. is the actual error i receive.

Its source is Service Control manager.
Log name is System
Event ID is 7000


If i go into the detail tab of it , it rly doesnt say much except some random numbers ( although if u want i can try copy and paste them here if that would help.

As i said , sofar it seems to only appear ONCE after a boot up.

As i said before it only appeared AFTER i uninstalled the intel thing, and if i reinstall the intel utility it seems to disapear after the reboot. However once i have the Intel utility installed i then proceed to receive the warnings i mentioned in the first post. So that doesnt seem to be the solution to this 🙁

Hey there!

I have finally managed to solve the problem ! Thought i'd leave this here in case anyone else has this problem!

After some research i figured out that IOCBios is the name of the driver of the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility.

Firstly i went to see whether i could find the driver in the system folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers\IOCBIOS.sys . For me it wasnt there any more but its always worth checking.

Then i went into the registry and delete the actual IOCBios service. This is the path i used HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services

once ure there find the actual name of the service and just delete the whole thing!

I did not have to do this in Safe Mode but other may have to do so.

After this i simply rebooted my pc and i no longer received any errors in the event manager!

p.s. to check if its rly gone , you can always go check in the device manager > view > show hidden drivers > Non plug and play drivers and the IOCBios should no longer be there.


Hope this helps anyone who might have this problem in future.
