INTEL G0 stepping?!

HaHa, not a chance. It wouldn't be a "Xtreme" OC if you didn't void the warranty somehow! :sol:

Well straying even more off topic but...

I'd consider an 'Xtreme' OC to be removing the IHS all together. Just 'scrapping' at the IHS maybe scary to some but it isn't that hard to do with some instruction. 😉

Yes I have 😀 I ran speedfan and lol in my 30C room, I'm getting 40C idle cpu. Is that any good?

Glad to here it.

40C seems fine to me. SpeedFan however doesn't properly recognise quads yet and thinks its Tjunction is at 85C like the E6600. However Tjunction for the quads is 100C so SpeedFan measures 15C to low. Please someone correct me if I am wrong with the new G0 stepping.

Dunno, Tcase and Tjunction is all new to me. I'm reading about it right now. :)

Hi Evilonigir
Im about to buy the Quad6600, but i aint going to
overclock it, but what is the 'G0 stepping on this cpu'
for and how will it benifit my system?
Thanks to all helpers in advice!

If your not overclocking, then any version of the Q6600 will be 100% fine; even with the stock heat sink provided by Intel.

The G-O stepped version is just a slightly optimized version of the Q6600. It tends to run cooler because evidently (on average) they run on a slighly lower voltage than their regular B3 stepped cousins. From what I've read and seen online, since they run cooler, overclockers are salivating at the headroom that this chip should have for overclocking. So comparing it to a B3 stepped version, you should be able to overclock the chip to higher Ghz before you will hit the thermal wall (can't cool it properly).

This link might help to confuse you, but it is interesting.

Intel specs them the same. but here's what mine does at stock voltage(full load for over 160 hours :) ) with a room temp of 25 c and low fan speed
q6600g0ne3.gif

It runs fine with extended time at 1.18(peaks @ 1.22 i think) my E6600 was fed 1.28 - 1.32ish stock.

So they've done something here

EDIT
seen a speedfan comment. yes speedfan does not know how to get the t-junction off the cpu so it always uses 85.
the way this works is by asking the cpu how far from tj it is and it sends a number back then the software does the math

so core temp
hey cpu how close on core 0?
core 0. i am 50 away

coretemp. ok
100 - 50 = 50. your temp is 50c

Speedfan says, hey cpu how far
core 0 says 50

speedfan says ok

85 - 50 = 35. your temp is 35c.

Just add the 15c offset in speedfan and it will go

85 - 50 + 15 = 50. your temp is 50c prob solved...

ClubIT has been selling the GO stepped Q6600 for over a week now. They had 1000 orders for it within 2 days of posting the GO version for sail. I had never done business with them before, but they promised and today...they delivered. Q6600 SLACR arrived today....bingo

Sweet :) ,I hope it gives you many happy hours of 'pootering mate. [:mousemonkey:3]

YoYoTech are charging £165 for the B3 but they don't have any G0's in stock yet, it is possible to pre-order one at the current price but if the price drops you will not be refunded the difference I'm afraid.
