My Intel driver assistant has this notification for this update with the title of this post. I was going to install it, but then I noticed this warning:

"Installing this Intel generic graphics driver will overwrite any customized driver from your Computer Manufacturer (OEM).

OEM drivers are handpicked, customized, and validated to resolve platform-specific issues, enable features and enhancements, and improve system stability. Intel’s generic graphics drivers are intended for testing, and we recommend using drivers from Hewlett-Packard (HP). Report any issues found with this driver to Intel."

What does this mean, and should I install this?

Solution
What does this mean, and should I install this?
This is a message for laptops mostly, because some are using an additional faster GPU and are set up to use the intel graphics for power saving and the other one for demanding things.
Installing the default intel driver might break that set up and make everything use only the intel graphics.

If you have a desktop system you can ignore that message because you have to had set up dual monitor in the first place to use the internal graphics together with a discreet one so nothing will change.

If the Hewlett-Packard (HP) part means you have a laptop from them then don't install this, unless you have the knowledge to deal with any possible trouble that could result from this.

You're right, I am on a laptop, which has its own GPU, so it seems best not to install this. Is there any way to get rid of the update notification on the driver assistant?
