I have a cm5674 asus 8gb 1tb ram with i5 650 3.2 from 2009 . W7 os I've since upgraded to Windows 10 the new components in my computer is a 600 watt power supply and a 970 GTX. My motherboard h55 Intel chipset and the 650 i5. I'm a gamer I noticed that this processor is becoming outdated I want to upgrade it should I upgrade my motherboard also. The newer demanding games says this processor will bottleneck and is running 100% lower than the minimum requirements. Like most w3. I also don't have any cooling system only whatever is stock in there what do you recommend without getting really ridiculous in price

I was thinking of getting Metal Gear Solid 5 but it says this processor will not run it which is a first because normally this processor has done me very well over the years. Say 101 percent below minimum requirements.

The requirements are kinda BS for MGS. Its really well optimized. Just to test that I ran the other MGS game (the demo kinda thing) on a Athlon II 215 and HD 5450 and at lowest settings it got 30fps. So Yeah you won't have an issue playing the game probably dont need to upgrade just to play that game. Why don;t you just buy it on steam and refund it if its not good

Well I did not buy the game but I'm noticing that this I 5 650 processor is getting kind of old for todays graphic games just wondering if it's since I'm going to upgrade the processor if I even should should i mise well upgrade my motherboard for an extra hundred bucks... plus I'm sure in a year or two it's going to need replacing anyway the architecture is way back 2009 ish cpu

The i5 650 cpu is definitly not for todays graphic demanding games all you need to look is here
http://www.game-debate.com/hardware/index.php?pid=243&cpu=Core%20i5-650%203.2GHz
so if i keep this old motherboard the intel h55 chip i would have to get a non K 4k series processor because ive read only certain newer boards enable OC with the K series..Thats my question should i buy a motherboard/cpu combo? or get by with a Non K series cpu

Yeah sounds good thanks aj. before you go anything you want to recommend like a good Mobo/cpu combo i could buy for maybe 350ish?
something that runs good with gtx 970

Budget for CPU and budget for Motherboard? any features that are a must have for you? (SLI,USB 3.1 ect)

nope id like to avoid adding a cooling system no sli or Cf.
budget 350 max for the mobo cpu combo.
just something that can make this 970 shine.
I have 8gb of ram still on this mobo can i re use that? 2 x 4gb

Ty sounds good..yeah im not into overclocking..but i do OC my gtx 970 bye like 250 core and 500 mem..get about 9 solid fps gain...however i really dont need to do it because all my AAA titles i get on ps4 im so used to dualshock 4, but i do have over 30 steam games..and im ready ASAP to go all PC once the Steam controller comes in a month AND i get this processor to prevent possible Bnecking with the newer games.
TY aj..if you want you can link me a Mobo you think is all i need, with no OC for the cpu of course.

haha .hey i was screaming im enlightened
so the stock cooling sytem that comes with this board will suffice all this? if i go the z97 route?
if yes i will be done here and be humble so tx again
my PSupp is 600w

The cooling comes with the CPU. In the box you will get a stock intel cooler. I can get a picture of one if you want.
The H97 chipset is ment for non overclocking
If you go the Z97 route you will find more boards but they will cost a little bit more as they have overclocking capabilities

nope im fine tx again.

hey ad had one more question for you if your still around..
this motherboard i have now is from a pc i bought back in 2010 asus 8gb 1tb HD, i5 650 @ 3.2 well off course the motherboard is a chipset intel h55....i recently upgraded from my win 7 to win 10 about a month ago...
question: do i need to buy a new version of win 10 OS? any options or recommendations? any loop holes? tx
i will be replacing the mobo to a h97 pro and i5 4690 as you suggested.
