Hi guys,
Which of these two is better? I have both of them in my PC. I have heard that the hd graphics does better than the nvidia gt 610. Would it make any difference if I disable the nvidia card and use the intel graphics? Or do both of them work together in sync?
For further reference, here my system specs;
intel i5 4460 3.10 Ghz with intel HD graphics 4600
8GB DDR3 RAM,
1TB SATA HDD,
Nvidia Geforce GT 610.

Intel graphics is integrated in CPU. NVIDIA GT 610 is dedicated graphics card.
Unless it's an extremely weak card (highly unlikely), dedicated cards usually perform better than integrated cards.
You should use GT 610 to have better performance.

I looked for the GT610 in the GPU hierarchy chart, but It wasn't there.

I did find it on google. It is available at Newegg. I know it isn't a very powerful card. And I don't have any comparative data to give a relative performance. So all I can say that is probably similar in performance to the integrated graphics.

I think there's a bit of benefit of having an independent graphics card - in my old system with a C2D CPU usage dropped significantly with VLC and YouTube video playback, and the stutter became nonexistent.

I don't know how much effect it'll have, but my laptop with i5 4200M and HD4600 also consumes a lot of CPU(fan noise is increased) for YouTube playback, so I think leaving the 610 in will have a positive effect on the CPU usage.

Cpu usage should not change any. Many older c2d gma igpus were not capable of hardware acceleration which would explain the cpu usage difference. What model is it? Both the 4600 and 610 can do all gpu acceleration even opencl. The cpu would have a little more heat and that is only a worry on laptops with smaller coolers and hence the affect you encountered. Using my 3000 on my desktop, temps and usage are not noticeably different.
