Do the newer 870, and 850 chipsets use the Intel I226V networking controller and are they having issues with connectivity? Looks like I posted this in the wrong category. Sorry. Should have been networking.

Moved post to Networking.

What specific connectivity issues is the system having?

= = = =

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Include PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition (original to build, new, refurbished, used)?

Disk drive(s): make, model, capacity, how full?

List all attached peripherals.

Wired or wireless network?

I don't see an 870 or 850 model in the new chipset lineup. H810, B860 and Z890 exist. And those only have a 1GbE integrated NIC. Many motherboard makers may chose to add the Intel 2.5GbE NIC models on their boards, but others use Realtek.

Intel has managed to mitigate most of the problems with the i226V through software, but the problems were fundamental hardware issues and there are still some edge cases where they don't work quite right. I honestly can't believe they haven't released a new model with the issues resolved.

Intel did a very good job of burying this. They had some major issue with the very first run of their 2.5g chips (realtec did also but not as bad). They tried to fix it with firmware but it seems it was not actually completely fixable but they never recalled any motherboards. Although they never confirmed it, it seems they made some kind of change to the manufacturing process.

What is unclear is what happened to all those defective chips that were in the pipeline between intel and the motherboard makers.

From what it seems anything built say 6 months after the release likely has the fixed hardware chips. This was back in 2022 so it is unlikely any current motherboard use them. They also have a even newer part that most motherboards are using.
