Hello guys!

I'm really trying to get the best price CPU for gaming now and upon research i got a little shoked. From the videos i looked over it really doesn't really mean much if i have an i3 i5 or i7 if im playing games. Rarely there was any difference more then 5-10 FPS with the only exception of playing the most CPU intensive games.

Here's the thing i have i5 7600 non K and RX 460(yeah i know) i plan to sell them both and to get the i3 7100(which is overclockable) and save the money for a 1060 6GB. That should be way more powerful in terms of gaming right ? Share some experience with this please.

The way i get it is i3 would only be a problem if im using something like 1070 and above ?

Thanks!
I get what you are saying but wouldn't 1060 with i3 machine be much more powerful gamer with an i5 7600 with RX 460? Cause both ways i won't loose money and the way i can upgrade the 460 later i can upgrade the 1151 i3 to i5 7600k?

Just get the GTX 1070 it will perform well with i5 7600 ...

dont you see GTX 1080/Gtx1070 in notebooks with i5/i7 running at 2.8 Ghz ?

get GTX 1070 and Enjoy it and you dont even need to upgrade the CPU

the 4 physical cores you get with the I5 are still better then the 2 you get with the core I3.

The i3 isn't too far behind the i5, when looking at average FPS on ultra settings.

If you looked at minimum FPS instead of average, and lowered the settings, the gap would be much larger.

I know what you're trying to do mate, you think you will get a more powerful all round machine by downgrading the CPU and spending the profit on the GPU. And for the most part, you would be right. But remember that the GPU is really just for graphics, the CPU is for minimum FPS. There are plenty of games out right now that will push the i3 below 60fps at times, where the i5 would be fine (GTA5, BF1 are two I can think of).

My advice is still to keep the i5 & rx 460 until you can afford a better gpu, but it is your choice :)
