I was here a bit ago about a dead fan in a Cooler Master V8, even though the CPU temps were fine. I ended up replacing the fan and all was well.
However, I recently moved, and now when I turn the machine on (after being in a box and moved), and it shuts down after 1-2 minutes. Sometimes I get a heat warning from the BIOS if I try to turn it on right away, and when I entered the BIOS, it said that the CPU was running at 85 degrees celsius (chipset temps were 27, by contrast)

I did some looking at the cooler, and it looks a little uneven, but it's hard to be sure. I'm not sure how to tighten it, perhaps someone else knows better about this cooler?

Or would it make some sense to just order a new cooler?

I've never heard of a Cooler Master 950 heatsink; do you have a product link or a pic? I've got a Corsair H50 cooling my i7 960 @4.1Ghz, keeps it at 80C max under stress testing, costs like $50. I'm sure something like a Noctua NH-D14 or Kraken X31, both around $75 would cool it great. I'm personally going to get a Kraken X41 to replace my ageing H50. I assume that you reapplied thermal paste when you installed the cooler?

Erm, I meant Cooler Master V8. My bad.

I'm guessing you already did it right once since you said it was good to go before moving the pc, but just in case: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wz7LAHn9u8Y. Also make sure you reapply the thermal paste to your CPU. If you do all that and your CPU is still overheating then get another cooler. The best cooler I've ever had is the Kraken X61, H50 and H80i are ok, also the Hyper 212 evo Noctua NH-D14 are supposed to be pretty good if you don't want AIO. If you go on pcpartpicker you can get a good list of compatible coolers for LGA1366 here https://pcpartpicker.com/parts/cpu-cooler/. Just double tap that by making sure it says it supports LGA1366 on the reseller site.
