Question Intel i9 12900 vs Intel i7 13700

I am looking at building a new computer soon. My current machine has seen better days. My new comp will be used for software develpment and gaming. Mostly games like Jedi Survior, Ff16 and Starfield. Its been a while since I had to choose a CPU. I was looking at either an Intel i9 12900 or Intel i7 13700 and I was wondering which is better in the long run. Price and longevity are my main concerns.

13700 is about 60 dollars cheaper in USA.

Single thread performance on standard benchmark about 2 percent in favor of 13700.

Multi thread performance about 12 percent in favor of 13700.



12900;

Performance Cores: 8 Cores, 16 Threads, 2.4 GHz Base, 5.1 GHz Turbo

Efficient Cores: 8 Cores, 8 Threads, 1.8 GHz Base, 3.8 GHz Turbo


13700:

Performance Cores: 8 Cores, 16 Threads, 2.1 GHz Base, 5.2 GHz Turbo

Efficient Cores: 8 Cores, 8 Threads, 1.5 GHz Base, 4.1 GHz Turbo


13700 probably easier to cool.

Looks like clear winner is 13700.

Do you have some over-riding reason to favor the 12900? Might be some. I'm not highly familiar with i9 series.
