News Intel in Talks to Sell NAND Storage Unit to SK hynix for $10 Billion: WSJ

There's one thing im noticing something about mega corps when they are in a downturn:

First there is a hiring hold. Then they cut expenditures like travel. Then benefits and raises, furloughs or pay cuts. Then they lay off.

As a last resort they sell assets like land/sub companies.

You will see steady earnings from intel but it will be boosted by one time earnings on the gaap report. Its a band aide to keep investors happy. But it definitely a sign of lean times ahead.

I bet due diligence might reveal stuff like the Flash trademark isn't owned by Intel's storage unit... so SK hynix will be able to manufacture the exact same chips, they just can't call them Flash memory without paying Intel more fees, in perpetuity.
