Hi to all out there! I have been having issues With USB Ports on my MS-7613 VER 1.1 ( HP OEM BOARD). I Have been told that it is Intel Management causing them to work intermittently so I have Disabled it and Altered Power options For USB Ports to not turn off for Power saving. Its now Far better and isn't making my USB Devices unrecognisable Which is good BUT (Always a but) My Keyboard and my Mouse do sometimes still switch off. Sometimes its a case of unplug and re-plug and voila! but a lot of the time its restart pc option. Could anybody shed any Light on Situation? I did have a Faulty HDD but has now been Replaced with new. Solved error temporarily and has now returned lol. as I Was just Writing this have had to Re-plug Both mouse and Keyboard as they went a bit crazy haha. Try going into control panel and clicking on on devices or descriptions related to the keyboard or mouse open the advanced options for those devices. Turn off the options for "allow system to put this device to sleep".

Also, it's probably a good idea to do a clean install of the OS if you have upgraded from an earlier version of windows but have not ever done a clean install, OR if you cloned the OS from the faulty hard drive to the new one, as there may have already been corruptions that were passed from the old failing drive to the new one.

Hi there I have set these options, I still keep having the same issue. Have tried Every Power option I can think of now.
Answering your question on the OS its a Clean install which I left all Last night to update to Current Window 10 Pro. Everything else is fine its purely just the USB PORTS keep glitching out on me :-(.

At a loss as the board has no ps/2 Ports so Shall I buy a PCI card with ps/2 ports?

Do the keyboard and mouse work in the BIOS, and just not in Windows, or everywhere? By that I mean, do they go to sleep in the bios as well or only after booting to the OS?

Just to be clear as well, you may also have to change the device manager settings for EVERY single USB hub device shown in device manager, as seen below. Keyboard, mouse, usb root hubs and every HID device whether listed under HID devices or under the keyboard and mouse labels, might all need to have the "allow the computer to put this device to sleep" setting unchecked.

If you have done that for EVERY device mentioned, then we can maybe move forward but I'd double check just to make sure. I've thought in the past I had disabled the options for all of the pointing and HID/Keyboard devices to wake, only to find that I missed one. Different problem, same problem.

Only when booting into os now. When the old hdd failed i was getting it everywhere but since new hdd just os and my windows is definitely activated. Many thanks

I am writing to you now on the pc in question. I get between 10 minutes to a hours use and have definitely checked all the power options for usb now and unchecked everything. It wont allow me to reflash my bios through os I keep getting blocked although I am the administrator. and because it is a .exe file I do not know how to flash from usb. thought it may be bad bios?

BIOS file shouldn't be an .exe. There should be more than one type of BIOS file you can download. Most these days have one type for flashback type updates, one type for windows based updates and one type for flash drive style updates that have to be run from within the bios.

Is this an all in one unit?

I am afraid so and I couldn't get a rom file anywhere from HP themselves (GRRR). Really am at a lost cause. apart from new mobo I don't know what else to do

Update to Motherboard. I and a Friend are Currently overlooking Everything on the board. We removed the i3 Processor to find Bent Pins. Have Very Carefully Realigned them all and will now start to piece the Motherboard back together But this may be the Cause if I am Right? Many Thanks

Well, yes, bent pins, whether on a motherboard or cpu, can cause just about any and every problem that anything else could cause. Much like a faulty power supply. It can mimic all other issues to some degree.

It would certainly be capable of affecting the USB, PCI, memory and storage circuits.

Thanks for all of your help. We pieced The Computer Back together and still have the same result :-( Tried a pcie x1 to usb 3.0 Adapter Card But couldn't get into windows at all in the end last night for it to find Drivers :-(

I am Going to just Buy a New Motherboard I think as this really does have me stumped now

Any Recommendations for Entry level 1156 Motherboards?

So, I could certainly recommend something, but to be honest it seems like a waste of money because even used there are really no decent options for a platform that is many years past end of life. That money would be a lot better spent put towards something newer, even used.

If you really have to go with a board you are going to pay over a hundred bucks for anything not used, and probably more like 150, which is likely twice what the board is really worth. However, the Intel BLKDP55WB is one option and the ASUS Maximus Gene III is another. There is also this one but it is chinese made, and while it IS new I cannot offer any opinion on the quality as it is an unknown brand to me. Probably it is the only new but not "new old stock" board that is available for that socket that I have seen.

Hi And thank you for all of your help. I went with A Intel DQ57TM and Everything has been Fine and Dandy Since. Got a Bargain at £25 including Back-plate. So Happy!
