This is the best I could come up with (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/7vZhHx) around $40 more than your price point, but a lot better, IMO.

I would advisee against the G3258 actually. Newer titles don't run well on 2 cores w/o HT.

I know that the G3258 is dual core, but it has more upgradability than the 860k and more sheer performance.

How likely are you to be upgrading your processor? Games nowadays want to run on 4 threads minimum, typica example would be the constant stuttering in GTA V for instance, when running the G3258, even overclocked.

Then should I save up for an i3 with ht? Because now that I think about it its going to be a long while before i upgrade. Or just go with the 860k?

The i3 is not a very good gaming CPU. If you save save the extra bucks for a low end i5. If you are on a strict $400 budget get an A10 system, if you can spend a bit more an Athlon X4 860K + R7 370.
