 Dear monkeything: From sound you figured out your own question,"CELL" is used at all levels of computing, from Supercomputing to Set Top Box. Second question seems out of hand & is embarressing to yourself is point, "When wishes are horses, beggers will ride".Heres new Avatar to use. http://www.geocities.com/tsvondrashekmd/cartoon10.jpg 8) Seriously monkeymeat, try to calm down.Signed😛HYSICIAN THOMAS STEWART VON DRASHEK M.D.

Sorry, perhaps I misunderstood you. It's my fault of course, Doc, Your mastery of the English language is surpassed only by your ability to ramble nonsensically off topic. I won't even mention the obscure, earth cookie, tree hugger quotes.

:Opteron 939 in that range might beat Sonys' "CELL" & you can get going today with little risk. 8) Signed😛HYSICIAN THOMAS STEWART VON DRASHEK M.D.

Were you not comparing an opteron to Sony’s cell processor?

What does that have to do with a guy looking for a desktop system?

 Actually, at this point we are speaking of your Mental Fitness, have you ever tried "Anti-Biotic" cocktail?Signed😛HYSICIAN THOMAS STEWART VON DRASHEK M.D.

Intel P4 506 or comparable AMD got lost half way tho the topic i guess and turnd into an flame agane

intel are good for video editing , heating rooms, some data base servers and divx allso some folding projects (realy depends on the data thats been prossesed)
amd k8 range are better in all other cases (games, windows apps ,lower heat out put, servers, 64bit support for the last 4 years , dual core {not glued})

untill intel make the ram work right off the CPU it self like amd does intel will lack

AM2 DDR2 is best to wait on before making comments if its crap or not my self i think its an step in the right direction, i not going to jump on it right away as i have an X2 3800+ and it seems to run happy at 2.5ghz {2ghz norm} allso untll now ddr2 5-5-5-15 seemed good ram for ddr2 about the time when it came out now we are getting 3-3-3 in some cases now

For DDR-2 there are "low latency" sticks made which should allow AMD to outperform INTEL on even number basis. Right now AMD might need 800 mhz stick to be equal to 533 stick in intel system
i say thats bull realy intel has to take a bus to get to the ram

ther are lots of benchmarks on the amd64 X2 (AM2 ones be good {when retail chips are used not pre AM2})
