Hi guys so, i was wondering if an Intel pentium E6500 will be compatible with my. Emachine ET1831-05 Motherboard (MCP7svt-PM) I have a intel core duo e6600, as i did some research online most say that the pentium e6500 is better than the intel core duo6600.

From what I can tell, the problem is going to be if the BIOS supports it or not. But yes, the Pentium E6500 (2C/2T) is technically more powerful than the Core 2 Duo E6600 (2C/2T): the Core 2 uses the Conroe (65nm) architecture, the Pentium uses the slightly newer Wolfdale-3m (45nm) architecture. The Core 2 is slower per core, hence why it's a step down in the hierarchy (https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cpu-hierarchy,4312.html).

Assuming it's compatible with the BIOS, & assuming it's limited to the 65W CPUs, your best bet might be the Core 2 Duo E7600: slightly faster than the Pentium, more L2 cache, & 2 tiers up.

Well i had an intel core duo 2 E8400 but it was unstable to use, i kept on having lock ups and BSOD. and i was thinking about getting the core duo e7600 but i dont know if it will boot like the pentium e6600 i bought. I thought it would be compatible with my device but it wouldnt post. So can i get the e7600 as you said it is slighty better then the pentium e6500.
