Hi guys,

I have just a simple question for you guys: Why the hell the CPU running at 2.97 GHz instead of 3.00 GHz ?

I disabled some power saving features in the UEFI and not it's at 2.99 GHz but nothing more.

Why I can't get the 3.00 GHz ?

Thanks !

Solution
The main system clock generator runs on a quartz crystal. These are sold with a 1% or .1% tolerance usually. For example my crystal actually pumps out 99.97Mhz x 43 for 4298.71 Mhz clock frequency.

2.97 rounds up to 3.0 obviously. my 4770k is rated for 3.9ghz but it runs at 3889mhz or something like that...its just the way the bclk x multiplier works.
