Wasn't too long ago this video would have been RAID0 vs regular hard drive. SSD's slap even my RAID0 around.

Well, can't see the video at work, but from my own experiences with a SSD computer at home and my crappy 5200RPM HDD laptop provided by work, I am frequently sitting, waiting for my computer to finish some task or another. Then again, you can do other things if your computer is chugging--it's mostly the "why does this computer have to be so slow vs. my home computer" frustration issue.

I just got a Crucial 128GB Vertex 3 to supplement the 320GB in my lappy. The side effect is that my desktop has become slower. lol

Better to have a HDD. That way you can browse the internet while the transfer files and have an excuse why you're taking so long

All it too for me to switch over the company to all SSDs was a quick demo of how fast Adobe CS ran on a SSD. These were first gen Intels ($300 a piece) at the time and the write speed was terrible. Now we've switched to all Sata 3 SSDs and they are amazingly fast. I haven't used a spinning platter drive in over 3 years. I even threw them in some old AMD X2 computers and they perform like a whole new computer.

If you're still waiting to make the switch, you've waited too long. Best performance gain for your money.

Just got a new SAN with all flash drives. Holy crap is all I a can say.

Gettng Thunderolt ports into windows laptops at the beginning of 2012 would have done much more to increase Human Productivity than shaving a few seconds off of startup times with an SSD. In the office environment most computers are not turned off, and virus scans take pace overnite. Companies with large numbers of traveling employees would benefit much more by having 10 gigabits of bandwith for backups and teleconfrencing, than having a SSD.

Open mouth, insert foot. What good would a 10GB thunderbolt connection do, when your drive can only sustain 133mb? Ohh look how fast your computer is until the drive buffer of 32mb fills up in 1/100th of a second....
