I upgraded my motherboard "asus b85m-g" to "asus rog strix b250g gaming" 2 weeks ago.

When I had my old motherboard, and I firstly connected the ethernet cable I have, it just worked untill I assembled the new motherboard. The ethernet cable gives light, I tested it with my laptop and it worked. Now I do not know why I cant get internet on my Desktop with my new motherboard. My computer has the latest drivers and I tried everything. ipconfig/release and /renew wont work since i cant have internet acces, it says it cant reach the other host side of the ethernet. In the bios I also have no idea to change the settings to make it work... It should work without changing anything right? since it worked on my old motherboard.....

The Error that I get is :
Ethernet does not have a valid ip configuration

Actually very weird, since I tied every combination for IP adresses and still doesn't work....

Has this problem something to do with my motherboard?
In the manual it says when the light is blinking and then steady, it is ready to wake up LAN from S5 mode. ?????

Your auto-configured IP address is on a default Class B subnet because your misconfigured system can't see the router.

The IP address 169.254.52.104 and subnet mask 255.255.0.0 shown in your ipconfig /all indicates that APIPA (i.e. Automatic Private IP Addressing) is being used.

Check your Windows firewall settings and any anti-malware application(s) to make sure they're not blocking access to your LAN.

Have you also tried running the following commands with administrator privilege?

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release

I did, but still it didn't worked. I tried everything after reinstall :

  • Changed IP-address
    Re-install drivers
    Reset router
Probably has something to do with the motherboard? Even tho the light is flickering of the ethernet cable which is connected to the motherboard. It does work on my laptop. Maybe motherboard won't allow internet access from ethernet cable ?

I did, but still it wont work. Weird isn't it?

I already did, it says "Ethernet does not have a valid IP configuration"

The settings are the same, set to automatically.
I also tried connecting the ethernet cable to my laptop and it worked, so the router is not the problem. The light of the cable is glowing (at my desktop) so it should work. My Router is an Asus RT-AC66u.

... Unfortunately this did not help for me. I checked and found nothing. I'm still thinking about that waking up from S5 mode, maybe that's te problem. I just do not know if I can disable it and if that helps. -> https://imgur.com/a/HjuVS

Thank you guys for helping me out. Apparently the router was sending my computer 2 IP-adresses, so my computer had no idea which one it was. Because of my motherboard, my computer thought it was a new network. So I converted the router to a switch and then back again to normal state. Then my ethernet connection worked again.:)
