I have this MBO : Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5

I recently installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 PRO x64, and I have installed all drivers for my motherboard listed here : (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4953#driver). All but the Intel SATA Preinstall driver (For AHCI / RAID Mode).

My question is, do I really need to install this driver (I don`t know what does it do) ?
I have an Intel SSD 520 and WD 1 TB hard drive, my sata is set to AHCI btw.

Hey there, CROcodile20!

Most manufacturers recommend you have this chipset driver installed because it enables the AHCI/RAID SATA mode on your SATA controller, rather than the plain AHCI/SATA mode. The reason behind it is that it tends to help with the SSD's performance and it also enables the hot-plugging of drives in your system. Either way, having this particular driver installed is entirely up to you. If you need assistance with the clean install step-by-steps, there are a lot of Windows Install & Optimization guides for SSDs and HDDs that you can refer to.

Good luck! :)
