Question Intel security locked MB

A couple of years ago I bought an Acer S7-191 from a private seller on eBay, and collected it from him. There was water damage on the KB and he had a replacement. The mSATA was loose so I removed it, and this triggered the Intel Anti Theft security warning. The seller knew nothing about this, and had not created a password. So I am locked out of a lovely little Ultrabook. I presume that I have no choice but to replace the MB? I sent it to Acer UK Service and they could not do anything.
