[citation][nom]caeden[/nom]160 threads... in one machine... drool[/citation]
I wonder if that can play...oh, you know. LOL

/sarcasm

If business computers will have this (a 10 core processor) available to them, I wonder what will be available for the personal computer.

"In addition to the improved design, the new Xeon will be socket-compatible with existing Nehalem-EX chips, making it easy for customers to upgrade server processors."

LOL. Surprising to hear that, I think this has been the first time in awhile that I've heard Intel's new chips being compatible with a previous socket. Now... only if desktop users had this luxury as well :(

[citation][nom]HansVonOhain[/nom]Wow, do folding@home on that. Dual CPU board will be expensive, I assume.[/citation]

only dual intels are expensive, amd stopped charging a crapton... and dual was never as expensive as quad.

pretty sure that is a typo... 2 threads per core @ 8 cores = 16 threads... now considering their target, 8 sockets x 16 threads per = 128 threads per board.

2 threads per core at 10 cores = 20 threads. 8 sockets x 20 threads = 160 threads per board. No typo.

They got so many issues with Sandy B that they better focus on her before they even think about the next task. I am going AMD this time around maybe next time i'll do Intel. AMD is better for Game playing anyway.

Well no not really, they perform similar to Intel's CPU's in games but you see a bottleneck faster with AMD's CPU's.

AMD hasn't really released anything new for 2 years (Phenom II) and those are slower than C2Q at the same speed.

AMD DID get their server CPU's right though, 12 core at 2.2GHz almost eats up a i7 980X, but the i7 still does the eating :(

Must get 2600k.. or bulldozer if it comes early enough..

Home users will soon experience the 8 core going upto 16 threads & like usual it takes about a year for the new server stuff to come down to us...So in about a year from now we will expect 10 cores with 20 threads for our home computers...

A SATA port malfunction counts as "so many issues"? Don't think so. AMD still needs to step their game up. If Bulldozer can even get close to SB, which it probably won't, Ivy Bridge will wreak it.
