Hello, I am building a new PC and I am looking into buying a processor. I want a Intel processor but they are so expensive! So now I'm kind of want an AMD processor as they are a lot cheaper. Why do two Quad core processors have such a price difference? Is there a huge difference in performance? Which is better? Here are the two processor's. AMD A8-5600K Trinity 3.6GHz (3.9GHz Turbo)
Or Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo)

Intel's cores are about twice as fast. An AMD Quad core performs like an Intel dual core (i3 is similar to A8-5600K). AMD FX-8300 series 8 cores perform closer to Intel's Quad core i5 and i7 processors. So that's why they are priced how they are.

intel i5 3570k is way way faster than amd A8 cpu in every task.

Only if you purchase a high powered video card with your new pc, otherwise the A8 will kill it out of the box. The A8 comes ready to game, the 3570K will send you back to the bank.

I guess maybe I have a different definition of "high powered" than you do, but really even a GT 440 or Radeon 6570 beats an A8 GPU. So it's basically like getting a $40-50 card built into your processor. But for $50-60 you can usually find a 6670 or similar and that's going to crush the onboard APU. So it doesn't have to be that high end.

So you're saying that if I buy a video card like the radeon 7700 It will destroy it?
