Would it be okay to run an I7 7700k with an amd cooler just for a few days still my cool master evo comes in I'm selling my old build basically what I was thinking since you can't actually mount it to the board just put my computer on its side and have thermal paste and just have the cooler on top of it

Solution
Just use long zip ties and run them true holes on mother board they will keep cooler in place, you can do them in this way # so they will hold cooler without problem.I did same thing for my friend that had fx 8320 stock cooler on his q6600 in 2nd rig and it hold cooler for 2 months without problems before he replaced it with CM TX3.
It has to be secured, so i reccomend you to duck tape the thing, actually dont, but play it safe, and not try to just put it on top. You can MAYBE sorta put the cooler on top but, it is not an ok thing to do. Go mobile gaming for a few days.

Do not duct tape it lmao, I would not recommend putting a cooler that is not made for intel on intel xD, Just buy a $10 aftermarket cooler, All though I would suggest something better anything Cryorig :)

Edit: didn't notice you had a cooler coming, But yeah I do not recommend even trying it.

Well if it doesn't move wouldn't it be doing the same thing it normally would for an amd? And yeah I have a cool master evo coming in but it's almost a week from now I won't be taping my rig lol BTW it's a stock cooler for an amd f 8350

I have a stock cooler from a 8350 myself, And I would not want to even attempt putting that on my CPU, What makes the cooler work really well is how tight it is up against your CPU so the thermal paste itself is smashed and it makes the heat transfer from the CPU to the cooler a lot better, If you were to just lay it on there without anything pressing it down on the CPU and holding it there, I wouldn't expect it to cool it down much at all. I mean try it at your own risk, But I must say it probably won't hurt to test it out and see what the temps are like for a few mins but if they are too high just take it out immediately. If they look fine then keep it on there, but keep a sharp eye out on those temps.

That's what I thought too, Although today I did help someone that was benchmarking their new PC that didnt even have a CPU cooler at all and it didn't kill his CPU or damage it. So from what I said before testing it for a couple mins and check the temp probably wouldn't hurt even though I did recommend not to even try this.

I think I've seen that thread, incredibly stupid in my opinion. In the post apocalypse where you have no choice then ok turn the machine sideways balance a brick on top of the cooler and keep your fingers crossed. In reality, just wait for the cooler.

under stress test done by intel ETU i hit about 100 degrees C but it doesnt stay at 100 for long only seconds btw im 7optics under no load it stays at about 35-45 c are these normal temps? 100 seems high but thats under a stress test and is it safe to run till my CM evo comes in?

I don't think we can make it any clearer, what you are attempting to do is very very foolish, it only stays at 100C for a moment because it then throttles and reduces it's heat output, you are an easy 20Cabove recommended temps. Just learn some patience and wait for the evo to arrive.

To answer your question again, NO it is not safe.
