Ironic as Apple uses and contributes back to the open source community much more than its monopolistic counterpart.

As for this news, even if it's Lightpeak, won't be too enthused about it. Sure, sounds great, but at what cost. If it's only good for professional equipment, it'll just be as much use as FireWire became.
 
Another example of what once was one of the best, most rigorously edited, Tech sites on the web, becoming a rumour mill who doesn't bother with whether or not a story has any "real content."

Well, it is Google you're talking about. I'll rest assured that some employee working on the OS ate some gingerbread while working.
