You can't overclock a Q9*** intel chip past 3.8Ghz easily. Why to buy a Q6600 now when you have the 940 for few dollars more and don't to overclock to have it at 3Ghz.

And...
Do you play with 3dmark or with any synthetic benchmark? NO

Then why to buy and i7 when the almighty Q6600 do the same with overclock, the answer:

The chip is old, simple as that. No one in their right mind eoul buy a Q6600 this days.

I didn't say you need to buy Q6600 or Q9XXX. All I did is compare the performance of the new processors to the old one. If you haven't upgraded your PC in the last 2 years and are building a new system looking to be able to upgrade in the next 2 years then go ahead and buy yourself a i7 or a Phenom II with DDD3 etc. As for me I will be happy with my PC for another 1.5-2 years.

And that's no bad. We are in the quad-core era and until we reach the octcores almost no one will sea a noticeable difference between any quad between 3-4Ghz even if it's and i7.

And are they re-releasing the Core 2 Duo E6300 as this Pentium Dual-Core E6300 or is it a different chip? Didn't the E6XX0 series have 4mb cache and why does the E7XX0 series only have 3mb cache? How is the performance difference?

The two lower-end E6X00 CPUs in the initial series only had 2MB cache. I was using a E6300 until three weeks ago.

The Q9550 will EASILY hit 3.7-3.8GHz, and with a good cooler, 4GHz is within reach. From what I hear, the Q9650 hits 4GHz quite routinely. Also from what I hear, the Phenom II has a hard time getting over about 3.7-3.8GHz in most cases. Basically, you should get some experience with the Intel chips before badmouthing them - the Core 2 Quad 45nm line is an excellent series of CPUs, and I would recommend them for anyone on somewhat of a budget (which would eliminate i7 as a possibility).
