Question Intermittent auto-scrolling problem

A couple days ago my mouse started auto-scrolling in the active window.

If I tried scrolling down, the window would scroll back to the top.

Sometimes while gaming with a controller the mouse tries taking over.

It doesn't happen all the time. It's intermittent.

I tried different mice, different ports, wired and wireless, turned off auto-scrolling in the windows option screen, updated mouse driver, updated windows.

At this time I'm wondering if it could be a motherboard problem.

I'm running Windows 10, i9-10850k CPU and a Micro-Star Z590-A Pro motherboard.

The most recent change is that I bought a new keyboard last week. Maybe that created some sort of conflict?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Thank you!

The most recent change is that I bought a new keyboard last week
Make and model of your keyboard? Did you try with a different keyboard?

This is my new keyboard:

Razer - Huntsman Elite Full Size Wired Opto-Mechanical Linear Switch Gaming Keyboard with Chroma RGB Backlighting - Black

My old keyboard was also a Razer but a different model.

I tried unplugging the keyboard and the scrolling still happened. I did not try a different keyboard.

I have found the same issue, I'm on Windows 11, Asus GTX1060, but the issue only occurred after installing the latest Cumulative Update (KB5022913).
I rolled back to a previous restore point and the issue has gone away.

I believe it is coincidence, but I also switched from a wireless keyboard to a wired keyboard in the last 2 weeks.
I did try with a different mouse too, so it is definitely not the mouse.

The issue only occurred in some active windows with scroll bars, such as the file explorer or even drop down lists.

I tried rolling back updates, couldn't find that specific numbered update, with no luck.

Finally I followed this Tom's guide to repairing Windows 10 and it is working so far...fingers crossed!
