Hi everyone,
I have been experiencing difficulties with my PC lately specifically freezing intermittently.
The games that I play are Fortnite & CS:GO. This issue has been on-going for about 2-3 weeks and the only work-around I have found is resetting my CPU overclock to default.
I've only had the stock settings set on for about 2 days now, I have not played any longer than 1 hour on Fortnite (game it crashes on the most). Although "underclocking" should not be the solution.
I suspected that something may have gone wrong during my overclock on my CPU, although I did thorough tests using prime95 for about 2 hours and did not experience crashes.
Which is weird to me as my PC will crash during games but not during a stress test, perhaps something else is causing the crashes?
My CPU temperatures were good during gaming sessions reaching around 80-90(Celsius)
Graphics stress tests were also done to ensure stability, the program I used was Unigine Valley with the Extreme HD preset.
Here are my specs.
CPU Now: i5-4690K 3.5Ghz Stock
CPU Previously: i5-4690k (4.2GHz 1.22V)
Cooler: Corsair H110i
Graphic Card: ASUS Strix GTX 980
Tweaks: Power Limit 125%
Core Clock: +180MHz
Everything else remained default.
RAM: Corsair 16GB (1600Mhz)
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO (Where my games are installed)
HDD1: 2TB WD Green
HDD2: 1TB Seagate Barracuda
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Software related "solutions" I have attempted
Verified
Re-installed
Updated all drivers/Uninstalled & Reinstalled (GFX, Sound, CPU)
Recently re-formatted (Early February)
Unclocked cores
I look forward to hearing back from the community, money is fairly tight but if it's something easy to replace such as RAM sticks or SSD that should be no problem.
Please let me know if you require further information.
