Hi there.

Windows 11 now currently Windows 10.

I turned my PC on and it wasn't posting so I pressed the button to turn it off. I realized I conneceted my TV to my PC via HDMI yesterday and I think that's why it wasn't posting on my PC monitor. I have disconnected the HDMI connection from my PC. Anyways, I think I messed up my computer by turning it off (the power button on the pc).

My computer now gets blue screen of death sometimes during startup and sometimes I will have a few minutes on my desktop before I get BSOD'ed again.

Ive tried to use the reset option but my computer will get BSOD'ed before the whole process completes.

I tried to do a system restore from 2 days ago when it was working fine and it still BSOD'ed.

I then tried to repair windows with a bootable USB drive but the repair fails.

So on my last leg I did a fresh install of windows 10...everything seemed okay, installed fine. Installed my lan drivers. Did my auto updates. I then downloaded windows 11 and in the process, I got BSOD'ed with the same message..... I am scared now cuz I thought a fresh install would often solve everything but not this case. Please help!

Can you follow option one on the following link - here - and then do this step below: Small memory dumps - Have Windows Create a Small Memory Dump (Minidump) on BSOD - that creates a file in c windows/minidump after the next BSOD
  1. Open Windows File Explore
  2. Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump
  3. Copy the mini-dump files out onto your Desktop
  4. Do not use Winzip, use the built in facility in Windows
  5. Select those files on your Desktop, right click them and choose 'Send to' - Compressed (zipped) folder
  6. Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox . . . etc.)
  7. Then post a link here to the zip file, so we can take a look for you . . .

internal power errors are normally drivers.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. The reason for the delay is Windows 10 is working fine and now its telling me I can upgrade to Windows 11, which I tried doing. I received the same BSOD so I am back here. I will edit this post with the results, thank you.

Edit:

I can't seem to get to the Minidump, it says it doesn't exist. I get the BSOD during the Windows 10 to Windows 11 upgrade after it restarts.

the update process probably wipes the page file or dump files, at very least. That is common practice for updates.

I should have read your post, it makes sense you won't get a dump file under those circumstances.

did the error mention a driver name at all?
what are specs of the PC? I can only suggest making sure all your drivers are up to date before trying the update or

download the media creation tool (2nd link) or ISO (3rd link) and create a win 11 installer - https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11
and clean install windows 11. You shouldn't get an error like that during a clean install.

I made a Windows 11 USB and deleted my old OS upon installing a fresh windows 11. The BSOD popped up during clean installation . Now I am kind of stuck cuz I don't have a windows 10 bootable drive anymore. And windows 10 was the only thing making my PC get past this internal power error.

It does not mention any driver name.

Kind of in a panic now 🙁

Edit:
Eventhough it BSOD'ed during Windows 11 install, it booted up like the install was successful and proceeded to do the setup wizard. So far so good, then I got BSOD while I was just on the desktop for about 3 minutes.

I wonder if its lan drivers.

What are details of your PC? unplug any unessential USB devices while you install, things like WIFI Adapters, extra hdd.

might be best going back to win 10, assuming it doesn't throw same errors

I found my minidumps!

I hope we can figure out what is happening 🙁

Thanks!

Hi, I ran the dump files through the debugger and got the following information: https://jsfiddle.net/x9vqah10/show This link is for anyone wanting to help. You do not have to view it. It is safe to "run the fiddle" as the page asks.

Comment: The overclocking driver "RTCore64.sys" was found on your system. (MSI Afterburner)

Possible Motherboard page: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-B660M-A-DDR4
There is a BIOS update available for your system. Wait for additional information before deciding to update or not. Important: Verify that I have linked to the correct motherboard. Updating your BIOS can be risky. Never try it when you might lose power (lightning storms, recent power outages, etc).

This information can be used by others to help you. Someone else will post with more information. Please wait for additional answers. Good luck.

looks like you have the microsoft generic
Microsoft NVM Express Storport Miniport Driver file

you might need the one for your device and to update the device firmware.
Guessing you have samsung version.
--------
kernel memory dump would be required to debug/confirm problem.

Thank you, my PC crashed during a system restore and made my computer unable to boot into Windows. I had no choice so I ran the win11 USB and did a fresh install. This time I didn't have the BSOD during the windows install and at the time of writing this, it seems stable and I hope it stays that way.

Thanks again.

it was like the storage firmware went to sleep without windows requesting it to sleep. it would be a bug in firmware for nvm.
