Hi, this problem has been happening consistently for about 2 weeks now.

while using any program that requires a steady internet connection (online games, skype, etc...) i get a ping spike every 30 or so seconds without fail. This is the only time that i can actually notice the problem first hand but i can see the bars on my internet connection fluctuation from 5 to 4 constantly while i'm using my computer. I've attempted to trouble shoot my connection but it doesn't detect any problem. I have actually swapped routers in the span of the 2 weeks and i'm having the problem on both.
My PC is the only one in my house that is experiencing this problem and i haven't been able to find any real cause to it.

The network adapter i'm using is a Realtek RTL8188E Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC which i have tried to update the driver to but it says it is up to date and that it is working properly. I also have tried to change the channel of my internet but that hasn't helped either.

My ISP is verizon and my connection type is 802.11n with 6 devices currently connected to my router

I had the same kind of problem in one spot in my living room, where my wife likes to sit no less, and i ended up using a wifi analyzer on my phone and found another wifi on the same channel coming in real strong just there. Since the other channels were also crowded I ended up adding an access point to make my signal the dominate one and its been fine since.

I went and downloaded a wifi analyzer and none of the channels seem to be particularly crowded but i still switched into a seemingly empty one and it hasn't fixed my problem , would you say an access point is still something i should look into even though i don't think the problem is in the channels

Since you are using a PCIe card, make sure the computer case is not positioned between the antennas coming out of the back of the computer and the router. The grounded metal case will greatly attenuate the signal. If repositioning the case alone doesn't solve the problem, moving the case off the floor and onto a desk can also help.

As far as an access point, if you are running cable or using powerline networking, run it to the computer instead and skip the wifi altogether.

not ruling this solution out of the question but there isn't an antenna coming out of the back of my computer or inside the case nor has there ever been. Also my computer has been in the same spot for the past 2 years without any problems.

I'm gonna give moving it a try none the less

I misunderstood what kind of PCIe wifi you have. Some have external antennas but RealTec is sold to OEMs and usually has internal antennas. Frequently on the top of the front panel outside of the metal shielding.

Have you opened the case or taken the front panel off lately? If so, and the wifi problems started just after that, it's possible that one of the antenna wires was damaged.

If not, the problem starts to look like an interference issue from a new radio source. Do you see many wifi signals where your computer is beside the one you connect to?

There only seems to be one other wifi signal that i can connect to in my area, ive been looking into the interference issues but no matter what channel i change to the problem persists. Would my only option be an Ethernet cable or access point or is there some other alternatives
