When i first got my new internet i had no issues, And when i had Century link i had no issues like this, but I switched to Cox and after the first month now im starting to lose internet. What happens is at random times when im playing a game, streaming to twitch, or when my Girl friend is playing her game randomly my internet will stop working but ill be connected to the router, and about 20 seconds later everything connects again. then at a random time, anywhere from 2-30 minutes later it happens again. I know that is a large gap but i have seen it cut out after 2 minutes and after 30 minutes.

Obviously i have no idea if it happens when im not playing games and stuff because im not at the computer. It only seems to happen when were playing games though. Now the device Cox gave us is a Modem router combo Ubee DVW236B and we are using a Wired connection. With the wired connection we are getting 117 Mbps download and 11.89 upload speeds. We tried wireless and it still happens on this computer. I am now under the impression it is our computer however we never had this issue when we had century link which only gave us 20Mbps Download and 5 Mbps upload.

my computer is a custom built one with a Sabertooth Z87 motherboard, Thermaltake 800 W power supply, Intel quad core i-7-4771 3.5 GHz processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 graphics card, and according to my device manager my network adapter is Intel Ethernet connection I217-V with the link speed set to 1.0 Gbps/Full duplex (EEE capable). Is something wrong with my computer or do i need a different router/modem?

Are you only experiencing these problems on the one computer? Have you tried getting on another device to see if the internet has gone out on it as well? If it is just the one computer it could be a faulty wireless card or malware attacking the computer causing the problem. If it is happening across all devices it is either your router/modem or their service.

Well we only have one other computer, and it isn't happening on that one. And as i said im using a wired connection. I actually dont have a wireless card installed because i love wired connection. So it probably would be malware then. Ill see if i can get rid of it.

Turns out it isnt Malware. So i dont know what it could be. again i do not have a wireless card installed and i am using a Cat5 cable connection. Also when i was using century link internet this never happend. It was an always stable connection.

So before I will rule our malware or spyware you will need to download, install, update & scan with Malwarebytes free edition, Spybot Search & Destroy free and preferably Avast or AVG antivirus. Also try a different network cable if you haven't already. If you in fact don't have any malware or anything then it may be the router modem combination, they are made really cheap for ISP's and typically cause more problems than not. I would reset it and see if that fixes the problems. Otherwise I would suggest if there is no Malware on your system, resetting the modem doesn't change anything, and a new network cable didn't either to go get a Linksys Router/Modem combination unit and that will most likely take care of your problems.
