Hey guys,

I have windows 10 in my desktop and it was connected with ASUS USB-N13 802.11N USB2.0 Wireless Network Adapter to my home internet wifi and it was working fine till couple of weeks back and suddenly it stopped working and i could not figure out what is wrong so i went ahead and bought TP Link AV500 Powerline Adapter starter kit and tried connecting to internet but it is still getting connected and i want this issue to be solved can you pros help this noobie on this and i would really appreciate it. Pardon me in advance if my responses are late

I have one of these there is very little to do.
1) Plug one into outlet (not a surge protector, not a power strip, not a 1 to 3 power splitter but directly to the wall outlet) near the router and connect it to the router via an Ethernet cable.
2) Plug other adapter into outlet (again directly into wall outlet) near pc and connect adapter to PC via Ethernet cable.
3) Press small button on adapter and they should sync.

Yes i did all the above thing you said it did not work that is the reason why i thought that we have to do something with the CD that comes with the package to install updated drivers so it would work so i tried that as well but still no luck i am, confused with the result.

No it says it is connected to my home internet thru my wifi adapter but it still fails execute

Do this, temporarly move your desktop (and its monitor of course) into the room with the router and connect it directly with a Ethernet cable to router.
If this works fine then we know it is an issue with the connection, if it does not work it is a software issue with your computer.

Ok before doing that let me tell you this i tried hooking up my laptop with the powerline adapter i bought and switched off my laptop wifi and tried connecting it to the internet and it worked just fine!! Should i still try moving my desktop and connect it to the router with an ethernet? Its a big hassle so just making sure? Or should i reinstall the OS again?

I dont get it atleast my asus usb wifi adapter was working fine a couple of weeks back no idea how it could malfunction though it is connected to the internet and not get a connection established and i did not install any nee application or system changes i wonder why this happened

Most likely if the powerline adapter works with laptop then moving the desktop wont work, although still a good enough test just to make sure.

What exactly is not working with your wifi or powerline adapter? Is it that you cant go to websites or what is the actual issue?
Do you have any network shares or wireless printers in the house, and if so can you access them?

Ok for example the wifi adapter says it is connected to the internet that i have at home but the browser aint connecting to any websites then tried updating my antivirus it says it is not connected to the internet and then again just to make sure tried connectinh to steam and uplay still it says no internet connection so assumed that the problem could be with the wireless adapter so tried using the powerline adapter to hook up to the internet and no luck both the adapter have been synchronized and it works just fine in ny laptop but for my computer it is not helping me it says no ethernet connection i tried removing the wireless adapter and tried only with my powerline to my desktop yet no luck.

So with the powerline adapter to desktop it does not show that an Ethernet cable is even connected?
Is the wired Ethernet adapter disabled possibly? Did you ever install the lan drivers for it when you first built the PC?

Do you have network shares/wireless printers and if so does this work with your wifi adapter?

Go into command prompt and type "ipconfig -all". What is your IP address, subnet and default gateway?
While in command prompt:
ping your default gateway so if your default gateway is 192.168.1.1 then type "ping 192.168.1.1"
If that works then you have a connection to the router at least
If that works then also try in command prompt "tracert 216.58.194.196" This is the IP address for google.com and this will help me test if the issue is in browser settings or with DNS. It may timeout after a few hits but you should at least get 3 or 4 hops if things are working correctly.

I dod all the above thing you said thanks for taking time on this. I indtalled all the drivers that came with my motherboard so i believe i have the lan drivers in my system.
From the ip config i took my ipv4 address and used it to ping and results came up with "packets: sent 4 received 4 and lost 0
Then i did the tracert 216.58.194.196 and i showed a total of 13 hops if that makes any sense.

And when i connect on the ethernet icon from control panel>all control panel items>network connections the ethernet stats shows as follows

General
Connection
Ipv4 connectivity -internet
Ipv6 connectivity -no network access
Media status -enabled

Activity
Bytes - sent 454855 received 662366 (changing constantly)

Not sure if it is necessary just shared

So then you have actual internet connectivity, you just have something preventing your browser from working.

What browser are you using?
Should check proxy settings (many viruses will implement a bogus one of these), should check for any unknown plugins in the browser, possibly reset it.
Should also download malwarebytes from another computer and then install and run it.

I do have malware bytes in my system and i have scanned and cleaned my system if some virus is preventing me from accessing the internet i could not update anything cannot access steam uplay origin cannot do anything over rhe internet :(

I even tried system restore it didnt work either

One last option is to reinstall the OS then i have to install all the softwares games all over again

Out of date malwarebytes is not that helpful, which is why I wanted to download a new version of program and install it.

System restore would fix proxy settings in the main windows OS, but not in the browser. Try resetting your browser to factory specs.

And yes, if all else fails then wipe windows.

If you don't want to try that just yet, you could always (on another computer of course) download a Linux live cd/usb and boot from that. If it has network connectivity over Ethernet/powerline adapter then you know that wiping windows would fix the problem.
