I was playing an online strategy game and noticed that every 10 seconds I was experiencing a 1-2 second lag spike. I've just built a knew Desktop PC so I know hardware wasn't the issue. Did a bit of research and a lot of people are having this issue. Most people seem to point to 1 or 2 things as the culprit-- Either my ISP is throttling me, or I'm having an issue in the wireless network.
In order to try and deduce which was causing the problem, I looked into the Networking graph within the Windows Task Manager. Sure enough I noticed that in synchronization with the lag spikes, the indicator within "Wireless Network Connection" chart was falling to 0%," which lead me to believe it was in fact the router configuration causing the issue.
I cannot seem to find a fitting channel for the wireless network, and have run into several problems when changing the channel (It just took me a half hour to enter my router's admin console, for example). I search briefly for previous iteration of a similar problems and found some that seemed relevant, but not quite the same, though my technical understanding of networking is pretty limited, so I simply may not have understood the circumstances and solutions enough to relate it to my own issue. Apologize if that is the case.
Thank you in advance, I appreciate any help I can get.
