Internet Explorer 8 Win XP

Hello,
I have recently encountered a problem in Internet Explorer 8. I can no longer go back to the previous page using the backspace button or the back arrow on the screen without using the menu "recently visited pages". It has previously been trouble-free. What can I do to solve this?

Try resetting IE.
