So I was doing some things with my computer that involved installing some downloaded software and changing a small setting in the registry. Now my computer won't connect to WiFi. When I get to the log-in page (to my windows account) that shows a connection, but after I log in, I am not connected and the wifi icon is missing from the system tray. Under adapter settings it says wifi is enabled, but also says "not connected". Under SSID it lists the network and the duration clock is going, while speed is holding steady at 72.2 Mbps. That seems conflicting to me as it seems to recognize a connection in some way. When I run a troubleshoot, it says "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings". Everything else connects just fine to the network and with the disappearing icon I don't think it's a network problem. Any ideas? Please, I'm desperate!
